Stay Close to God

                  We serve an amazing God. He can do whatever He wants. He builds kings up and he tears down kings. He sees the individual as just as important as all of humanity. He reaches out to everyone. "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your glory to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up" (James 4:8-10). Most people forget that God expects us to draw near to Him, and as we do, our sinful hearts and hands become cleansed by Jesus Christ's sacrifice. Then our mourning is into laughter and our hearts feel lightened. When that happens, we are then able to approach the Lord in a humble manner, and He meets us there and lifts us up.              God never turns His back on us. God Answers Job

I have been reading humor. I needed something to lighten my mood. I laughed for quite awhile, and it felt good. Relaxation overwhelmed me. It wasn't dirty humor, but good clean fun. Back to Job, who has been waiting, for God to answer Him. His friends declare their opinions and Job feels only pain. Job possesses pain on top of pain for Job, from the loss of his children to the loss of his wealth to the loss of his health. God shows up. He reveals Himself, and He intervenes in their pointless discourse. God speaks in a way that at first Job does not understand, but then he grasps it. God communicates to us as individuals, and He ensures we know what he means! When Job Turns to God

 Today, I am still reading in Job. It's a long book, after all!  Job is a beautiful collection of Hebrew poetry.  Job is at the point where God can answer him. He has been humbled. He has stopped seeking the affirmation of those around him, and now only seeks God. No one knows what God wants to speak to us, or why God allows things to happen to us. They can only guess, but God knows! Our God is there for us. He supports us. He defends us. He hears us. Job is finally at the point in his trauma where he turns to God. There, and only there, will he find peace, will he find hope, will he find salvation. Next time, we will start with God answering Job! Lessons from Job

I am starting a Bible study with my church ladies on YouVersion. (Thank goodness I am in a state that values religious freedom and re-opened places of worship, plus had a pastor willing to do so!)  We are reading in chronological order. We read the beautiful creation story in Genesis. Now, we are reading through Job. Job's immense suffering, yet trust in God is amazing.  We may suffer, but it is only for a time. We may suffer, but it is only to show unbelievers Christ and share the Gospel.  The world is not lost, but it seems to be trying to be. But in Christ, there is hope in suffering. Fear Not

Social media probably will be used to target people who believe in Jesus Christ. This will be true believers who are not deceived and follow along with every crazy social ideology that evil people come up with and pass off as "Christian." It is happening here. We are not being killed yet, that is coming and soon, but people's faith have died regardless. That is a much worse death, and when Christ returns for His church and to defeat evil, many people who call themselves Christians - even pastors, worship leaders, and others - will find out they were deceived and be cast aside. God loves everyone. We need to be in the Lamb's book of life to enjoy Heaven with him. Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13 all describe the leading up to the prophecies Daniel and Revelation foretold. The Christmas Star

I beheld the rare alignment of Jupiter and Saturn. I watched it rise to disappear. I prepared eggnog white hot chocolate, using a recipe we found on the back of the eggnog container.  We exited our house to star gaze in the cool, neither cold nor hot, evening. We bundled up the littles and took them outside. After all, this is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I saw it and for about 20 minutes it was the only light source in the sky, other than the moon, which appeared earlier in the day and stayed suspended there contentedly.  Fullness filled my heart. It hung as the brightest object, even among the other light sources, the stars, other than the moon. To find it, I turned my eyes to the western sky. I was unable to use any app because my phone does not have the correct built in equipment, but I had used someone else's phone earlier in the month to discover where they would be.
