The Christmas Star

I beheld the rare alignment of Jupiter and Saturn. I watched it rise to disappear.

I prepared eggnog white hot chocolate, using a recipe we found on the back of the eggnog container.

We exited our house to star gaze in the cool, neither cold nor hot, evening.

We bundled up the littles and took them outside. After all, this is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I saw it and for about 20 minutes it was the only light source in the sky, other than the moon, which appeared earlier in the day and stayed suspended there contentedly.

Fullness filled my heart. It hung as the brightest object, even among the other light sources, the stars, other than the moon. To find it, I turned my eyes to the western sky. I was unable to use any app because my phone does not have the correct built in equipment, but I had used someone else's phone earlier in the month to discover where they would be. I observed Jupiter and Saturn drawing closer all month, and tonight they stood side by side and closer than in 800 years. A rare alignment of Jupiter and Saturn may have led the wise men to Baby Jesus two millennia ago, so seeing that during Christmas week made it even more special.

I said, "Our little is the same age Jesus may have been when he saw this," referring to the fact that some theologists believe that the wise men did not make it to Jesus until he was two years old.

I took a picture with my littles under the star, along with images of it. I also recorded two videos because my littles were not cooperating, so one has two and the other has two, along with the star, and myself. I wanted to document this time, so we could look back on the Christmas that we saw The Christmas Star.

Yes, I was this excited about the Solar Eclipse that we saw a few years ago, the Blood Moons, the Blue Moon, comets, shooting stars, and every other special astronomical event that I discover. It's not because I am obsessed with astrology, but rather, because all these signs and wonders in the heavens are foretold and point the way, as that Christmas Star did so many years ago, to the One who saves us from our sins, makes us new, and brings us into Heaven with him. The Savior, Jesus Christ, who can give us shalom ("peace") this Christmas season and forever.

He bled, died, and rose again so that we could be in Heaven with him. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved.

Dear Heavenly Father, I am a sinner. Forgive me for all of my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again. Jesus, you are Lord of my life. Father, I give you my heart to do with as you wish. I want Jesus to come into my heart and my life and be Lord. In Christ's Holy Name I pray, Amen.
