Stay Close to God
We serve an amazing God. He can do whatever He wants. He builds kings up and he tears down kings. He sees the individual as just as important as all of humanity. He reaches out to everyone. "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your glory to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up" (James 4:8-10). Most people forget that God expects us to draw near to Him, and as we do, our sinful hearts and hands become cleansed by Jesus Christ's sacrifice. Then our mourning is into laughter and our hearts feel lightened. When that happens, we are then able to approach the Lord in a humble manner, and He meets us there and lifts us up.
God never turns His back on us. He will stand with us for eternity, if we stand for Him. He loves us. James is a short book. I recommend reading it all in one setting, even if that means you have less time to watch television or the news or surf the Internet.
God bless you today and this week! Remember, Jesus loves you. He bled, died, and rose again so that we could be in Heaven with him. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved.
